When concluding a cover letter I like to put “Yours sincerely” or “Regards” and then skip 4 lines and type your name. In those 4 lines you sign your name after you print it out. Make sure you sign in blue ink because they may think black ink is a copy. Don’t use wacky colors such as green, purple, yellow, or even red. Just use blue ink and you will be fine.
Proofread
The last step of learning how to write cover letters is to proofread your work. Make sure you do not skip this step. I would not hire someone whose cover letter had misspellings and grammatical errors. Follow the list below to make sure your proofreading job is complete.
1. Spell Check
Spell check your work. Most writing programs now days have some sort of spell check. It is there for a reason, so use it. Don’t bother handing in anything with spelling mistakes.

4. Check Punctuation
This is a very important step. Make sure you check your punctuation marks. Don’t leave unnecessary commas laying everywhere. Get rid of or add these. Again, make it look professional.
5. Don’t Overflow
Make sure you keep your cover letter to one page. If you have more than one page the employer may not even read it. So, edit out unnecessary points from your letter and minimize it to one page.
